Michael’s involvement with Naomh Bríd came early where as a underage player, he was involved in some of the clubs earliest successes. He was a player in the U10 team that were the first ever winners of Division 1/A title in 1985 ,he played in the U14 team that made it to the County B final in 1991, and a player in the first minor team to win a county final for Naomh Brid in 1996.
Later on Michael would prove to be one of the clubs most dedicated volunteers. Taking on roles in underage and senior teams as coach/management team, umpire and many more jobs. Michael was a valued member of the executive for 20 years. No job was ever to much for Michael and he could always be relied upon.
A day off from volunteering didn’t mean a day off from club duties. If he wasn’t volunteering, he was supporting.
Michael was a familiar face at all games from underage level to seniors. This was recognised when he won supporter of the year.
Michael will be sadly missed by all in the club, not just for the jobs he so meticulously carried out, but also for his friendly manner in which he always carried himself.
All club activities have been suspended until after the funeral of Michael Walls jnr. We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to his family, his partner Doreen & wider circle. We keep them all in our thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time.
